During the spring semester of 2008 five brothers went to the riverfront in Wilmington, Delaware to coordinate a water station at the Delaware Marathon. The service event was coordinated by Kevin West, and along with Kevin was Matt Ciel, Travis Dorman, Luke Biroldi, and Rylan Brown. Check out the photos page for a few more pictures of the event.
Scott Mackler Run
The Pikes at Delaware remain extremely committed to the annual Scott Mackler Run, an annual 5K race named for Scott Mackler, a Pike alumni living with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). As of 2009 we have participated for ten straight years, but every year we also arrive early along with Pikes from the University of Pennsylvania and help the Mackler Family along with staff from Temple Beth El in Newark, where the event is always staged, set up for the race. For two years we have also facilitated donations for the event from Newark Deli & Bagel. Information on the annual run can be found here.
Newark Clean-Up Day
April 18, 2009
Newark Clean-Up Day is an annual event in Delaware commemorating Earth Day and the City of Newark. This year was the first time that Pike contributed to city beautification activities, but the day’s success lends itself to our participation in future years, with larger attendance from the chapter.
